Government Affairs:  Carroll Chamber meets with delegation under Gold Dome

Members of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce met with representatives and senators of the West Georgia delegation to discuss important issues such as Higher Education, Transportation, and Rural Broadband.  The Government Affairs Committee of the Chamber organized the trip, and it was sponsored by Georgia Power.

Every member of Carroll County’s delegation met with the group to discuss the pressing issues facing lawmakers.  Randy Nix (State House 69), Kevin Cooke (House District 18), Lynn Smith (House District 70), J. Collins (House District 68), Matt Brass (Senate District 28), and Mike Dugan (Senate District 30) all met with the Carroll County Chamber delegation.  Also joining the discussion was Charles “Chuck” Harper, former state representative of State House district 88, who now serves as Deputy Chief of Staff in Governor Brian Kemp’s administration.

Daniel Jackson, president of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, was pleased with the Chamber’s mission to the Gold Dome. “Our state representatives and senators make decisions that impact our lives,” he says. “It is important for community leaders to stay in touch with their elected officials, especially when the General Assembly is in session.”

Jay Gill, chairman of the Government Affairs Committee, thanked the members of Carroll County’s delegation for meeting with the Chamber and said the Chamber’s annual trip to the capitol is a key service the Chamber provides to its members.  “The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is one of the most respected organizations in the State of Georgia,” says Gill, “so when Chamber members visit the Gold Dome, our elected delegation is eager to receive input on various legislative issues.”
